Romans Race night raises over £750 for our residents Tuesday, September 29, 2009

On Friday 25th September 2009 over 80 people attended a race night at Romans Pub. Chris Pobjoy, the Landlord kindly allowed Romans to run a fundraising event on its premises. The event was a sell-out and the price of the ticket included a fantastic buffet prepared by our resident cook Sandra Catchpole. Janice Mase and Shirley Turner, from our Friends Committee, helped Sandra prepare the food for the evening. Peter Hewitt, a member of the Society, ran the Tote and our compere, Andy from Romans pub, kept us all entertained announcing the races and the winnings.
A special thanks has to go to Jacquie Richards, Romans Secretary, who organised the event and managed to get sponsors for the all the races. Jeanette Benfield, Lesley Ede, Shirley Turner and Julie Veck helped Peter run the Tote and we are grateful for their support.
Thank you to everyone who attended this evening and made it such a great success. We will let you know how the Friends intend to spend the money. These events help the Society to provide extra trips and activities that our residents enjoy and appreciate.
